District 86 deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and fights for working families — not more of the same political complacency. At a time when public schools are strained, healthcare costs are rising, and too many families are priced out of housing, Burke County needs a voice that puts people first.

Wesley Hendrix is a Burke County resident, community leader and minister who has dedicated his life to serving others. Through his work in the community and in ministry, he has walked alongside families during their hardest moments and their proudest milestones. He understands that leadership isn’t about power — it’s about people. He’s not a career politician — he’s a neighbor, a community member, and someone who has stepped up time and again because he believes public service is about people, not politics. Wesley knows the values that define District 86: hard work, faith, family, and looking out for one another. He’s seen firsthand the challenges rural communities face — from underfunded schools to families stretched thin by rising costs — and he’s running for NC House to make sure the voices of Burke County families are heard loud and clear in Raleigh.
Wesley Hendrix is focused on three priorities that matter most to rural District 86. First, strengthening public education — because every child in Burke County deserves well-funded schools, competitive teacher pay, and classrooms that prepare them for real opportunity, not overcrowding and cuts. Second, expanding access to affordable healthcare and protecting rural hospitals — because no family should have to choose between medicine and groceries, and no veteran or senior should be left behind. Third, building a responsible state budget that invests in better-paying jobs with benefits, addresses the growing housing crisis, and ensures our tax dollars work for working families — not just the well-connected. Wesley also supports fair, non-partisan redistricting so voters choose their representatives, not the other way around.

For too long, District 86 has had the same representation while working families feel like they’re standing still. Burke County deserves leadership that listens, shows up, and fights for local priorities — not partisan games. Wesley Hendrix is ready to bring common-sense leadership back to Raleigh, rooted in accountability and fairness. If we want better schools, stronger healthcare access, and real economic opportunity here at home, it’s time for new energy and new leadership. It’s time to send Wesley Hendrix to the North Carolina House.
