As Attorney General of NC Josh Stein has:

*Secured more than $50 billion nationally to bring much-needed opioid addiction treatment and recovery services to people across North Carolina

*Tackled the largest backlog of untested rape kits in the country, bringing justice to victims and putting rapists behind bars

*Defended women’s access to reproductive health care, children’s right to a sound *public education, and people’s access to health care under the Affordable Care Act

*Helped to negotiate the largest coal ash clean up in the history of the country and then won a more than $1.1 billion settlement from Duke Energy about paying for that clean up

*Took DuPont and Chemours to court for polluting the Cape Fear River with toxic forever chemicals because polluters should pay to clean up the messes they make

*Held e-cigarette manufacturer Juul accountable for sparking a teen vaping epidemic – winning $40 million to help kids conquer their addiction to nicotine

He believes "We are all children of God and he wants "justice and opportunity for everyone" in NC. He believes you should decide who you love and when you should have a child He would support "a great education for every child" in NC and good, well paying jobs all over the state. He has been endorsed by 17 NC Sheriffs, Judge Jimmy Ervin, Justice Anita Earls, Jim Hunt, Anthony Fox, Vi Lyles, Wesley Hendrix. Jeff Jackson, Deborah Ross, Dan Blue, and more than 100 others.

 

RUNNING FOR STATE TREASURER

Wesley Harris is running for Treasurer because we deserve a leader in the Treasurer’s office who will be an advocate or long-term financial planing and sound fiscal policy. Wesley will work hard to protect our state bond ratings, increase our capacity for investment in infrastructure that improves people’s lives, and ensure a secure retirement for state employees.

Braxton Winston II previously served as an At-Large member and Mayor Pro Tem of Charlotte City Council until December 2023 with a goal of developing a city that is more equitable, accessible, and interconnected.

RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR

As a former Supreme Court Justice, Mike Morgan has been an advocate for justice and the rule of law.

Today, he’s running for Governor of North Carolina fighting for fairness, equality, and freedom.

Mike Morgan has the background, experience, and the leadership skills to be our next Governor.

RUNNING FOR LT. GOVERNOR

Rachel Hunt has served in both the State House and Senate, where she fought to increase teacher pay, restore NC Teaching Fellows and Master’s pay, and worked with bipartisan group of legislators to introduce the Student Borrowers’ Bill of Rights. She has been a promoter of Medicaid expansion as well as paid family leave and increased minimum wage, and introduced bills to make polluters pay and protect against health risks caused by exposure to toxic chemicals.

 

RUNNING FOR BURKE CO COMMISSIONER

Wesley Hendrix was born and raised in Morganton and graduated from Freedom High School and Davidson/Davie Community College. He worked in Greensboro as Assistant Pastor & Minister of Music of Mt. Zion AME church for 15 years.

 

Sharon Everhart is running for Burke County Board of Education. She grew up in Morganton and graduated from Morganton High School and  then earned a BA and MBA from UNCG. She was married to her husband Don for 51 years. She spent 25 years at Exxon, first in advertising, and then acquisition, research, human resources, union negotiations, and, lastly, a computer project. Next she was Director of Human Resources at Carteret County Community College for about 14 years. Now she has come home.

     "I got a good, sound, basic education in the Morganton public schools. I want the kids today to get the same so they can go to college, trade school, or whatever else they want to do, and be the best they can be in this world. Teachers need support for what they have to do today."

 

Pam Genant is running for US House seat of the 14th Congressional district. Pam grew up in Maine, the daughter of a fisherman. She and her physician husband, Jackson raised their children in Valdese. She is a nurse and served in the Army during Desert Storm as an officer. She is past Chair of the Burke County Democratic Party. She wants to "represent this newly drawn district with compassion, integrity, and reason."
